Police say a 20-year-old man was arrested after shots were fired outside a building in Richmond Hill on Wednesday night.

Police were called to the scene near Colborne Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive at around 10 p.m. for reports of the sound of gunshots in the area.

Once on scene, police located shell casings in the parking lot of an apartment building on Colborne Avenue.

Inside the apartment building, police also found casings and bullet holes in the hallway.

The suspect was seen fleeing the scene on foot but was later arrested in the area by police.

On Thursday, police say a suspect identified as 20-year-old Trae Greaves was charged with possession of a prohibited device or ammunition in connection with this incident.

The charge has not been proven in court.
