Two men were taken to hospital with puncture wounds after a fight broke out outside a downtown nightclub early Saturday morning.

Police say plainclothes officers and a bouncer intervened in a fight between two groups of men outside of a club at Peter Street and Adelaide Street at approximately 2:20 a.m.

One of the officers was assaulted but had only minor injuries, police say.

The bouncer and another person went to hospital with “puncture wounds from a sharp object,” according to police.

Toronto Paramedic Services says they transported two men to a trauma center in serious condition.

Three people were arrested and police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
