A 37-year-old woman is dead after being fatally struck by a vehicle in Mississauga on Friday evening. Her 9-year-old son, who was also hit, was treated in hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Peel Regional Police say this doesn’t appear to be a “fail to remain” violation and that the investigation is ongoing.

The collision happened in the Bloor Street and Cawthra Road area at approximately 5:15 p.m. Police believe the woman and her son were crossing Cawthra Road at the time of the crash.

EMS says the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
