A 30-year-old Mississauga man faces a number of charges for allegedly forcing a 19-year-old woman to work in the sex trade.

Investigators said the woman met the man on May 12 at Pure Gold, a strip club in Mississauga. At one point, he gave the woman the keys to his vehicle and asked her to retrieve him the next morning.

When the woman picked up the man the following day, police said she was told to drive to Hamilton to meet up with some of his friends.

The pair drove to Hamilton where the man registered the woman as the occupant of a hotel room in the area.

Police said once inside the hotel room, the man took photos of the woman in certain forms of undress. Those photos were then posted as advertisements for sexual services on Backpages.com.

The young woman was allegedly forced to have sex with clients over a two-day period. Police said all money earned was handed over to the man.

By May 15, police said the woman was able to escape from the hotel room and return to Toronto but the man continued to contact the woman through text, demanding to know where she was located.

The man eventually found the woman four days later and claimed that she owed him $5,000 as a “buyout” fee for leaving him that day at the hotel.

The woman was allegedly forced to retrieve the money from a bank. Soon after, the woman reported the incident to police.

Police said they later located a suspect in a nearby area and placed him under arrest.
