TORONTO -- Eastbound lanes of Highway 401 in Mississauga, Ont., are closed because of a crash that has left a road worker in hospital in critical condition.

OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford says a tractor-trailer crashed into a truck guarding a work zone and a worker on the roadway was struck (at Winston Churchill).

He says the driver of the big rig is also in hospital in serious condition.

In Vaughan, north of Toronto, a motorcyclist was killed overnight when his bike was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction. The truck driver was not hurt.

York Region police say Major Mackenzie Dr. at Jane St. is expected to remain closed until about 6:30 a.m.
