A man was seriously injured at a construction site in the Lawrence Heights area Tuesday, prompting the Ministry of Labour to launch an investigation.

Emergency crews were called to the site near Ranee Avenue and Flemington Road, just west of Allen Road, shortly after 10 a.m.

According to police, a male construction worker was on top of a wall that stood approximately 6 to 8 feet when it suddenly fell over.

They said the victim was conscious and breathing when police arrived on scene but his injuries were later upgraded to serious.

Investigators with the ministry are expected to probe the scene this afternoon.
