A Toronto man has been escorted back to the city from South Korea to face charges in connection with a 2007 homicide that saw the victim dropped off at an EMS station.

The suspect had surrendered to authorities in Korea back in late October.

On Friday, Sang-Woo Ye, 29, of Toronto was returned to the city. He has been charged with:

  • first-degree murder
  • conspiracy to commit an indictable offence (three counts)
  • robbery (two counts)
  • forcible confinement

Ye was scheduled to make an initial court appearance on Monday.

The charges are related to a shooting homicide that took place on May, 9, 2007.

Police allege three armed individuals carried out a home invasion at a Dean Park residence, which is located near Sheppard Avenue East and Meadowvale Road.

At some point, someone shot Khong Duy Nguyen, 33, in the head. He was dropped off in the parking lot of a Toronto EMS station shortly before midnight.

Although paramedics took Nguyen to hospital, he died on May 10, 2007.

Four other individuals were charged in connection with this case. They have pleaded guilty and been sentenced.

No allegations against Sang-Woo Ye have been proven in a court of law.
