The man was injured when a crane tipped at a job site in the area of The Gore Road and Castlemore Road at noon.

He was pronounced dead shortly after paramedics arrived on scene. He has not yet been identified, but paramedics say he was in his 40s.

In a statement released Tuesday evening, Brampton Mayor Linda Jeffrey said she was “deeply saddened” by the incident.

"On behalf of all residents of the City of Brampton, I extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the victim's family, as well as his friends and coworkers on the job site," she said. "Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time."

Officials are investigating the cause of death. Representatives of the Ministry of Labour will be attending the scene.
