Man in 20s struck and killed by Via Rail passenger train in Burlington

BURLINGTON, Ont. -- Halton Region police are investigating the death of a man in his 20s who was struck by a Via Rail passenger train in Burlington.
Police say the man was hit shortly after 6:30 p.m. after he crossed two sets of tracks before walking into the path of a westbound train.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
None of the passengers and crew on the train were injured.
The tracks (near Cumberland Ave.) were closed for about two hours.
Anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact Halton police.
