Toronto police are looking for witnesses after a man was found shot dead in Parkdale on Monday morning.

Police arrived on the scene after someone reported hearing gunshots.

Officers found the man's body in the Close Avenue Parkette, near King Street West and Jameson Avenue, at about 7:50 a.m. Police say a person going to their car discovered the body and called 911.

The 20-year-old victim had been hit by a shotgun blast.

Insp. Rueben Strobel told CTV News that police are trying to establish a timeline of events. "So if anybody heard anything throughout the night, please call 14 Division" at 416-808-1400, he said.

Some area residents say they may have heard a gunshot at 3 a.m.

Police are not releasing the victim's identity at this time. He is the city's 45th homicide victim of 2010.

On Monday afternoon, forensics investigators clad in white suits could be seen sorting through a garbage bin.
