NAPANEE, Ont. - Provincial police say a driver has been charged after a vehicle was clocked at more than twice the speed limit on Highway 401 in eastern Ontario.

The OPP says a highway safety division officer was conducting traffic enforcement on the highway in Tyendinaga Township on Sunday morning when his cruiser was overtaken by a white BMW.

The officer was able to get the vehicle stopped approximately two kilometres down the highway.

Police say an 18-year-old Richmond Hill, Ont., man is charged with stunt driving for allegedly travelling 208 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

The man's vehicle was seized for seven days and his driver's licence was suspended for the same amount of time.

OPP say Renbin Bei is to appear in court in Napanee, Ont., on Dec. 17.
