TORONTO - The Toronto Maple Leafs have claimed forward Frazer McLaren off waivers from the San Jose Sharks.

The six-foot-five, 230-pound forward did not record a point in the one game he played for San Jose this season. The Winnipeg native had one assist and 87 penalty minutes in 26 games with Worcester of the American Hockey League.

McLaren is expected to join the Maple Leafs at practice on Friday.

In 40 career NHL games, all with San Jose, McLaren has recorded one goal, five assists and 85 penalty minutes.

He was originally selected by San Jose in the seventh round (No. 203 overall) in the 2007 NHL entry draft.
