TORONTO -- Someone may be getting a lump of coal in their stocking after a Goodwill store in Toronto was evacuated when staff found an inactive hand grenade amongst donations.

Staff. Sgt. Dean Ion says police were alerted around 12:30 p.m. Monday that an "inert" grenade incapable of exploding was inside a bag given to a Goodwill outlet in the city's west end (on Dundas Street West and Kipling Avenue).

He says the building was evacuated and the heavily armed Emergency Task Force moved in to secure the dud donation before the store was reopened.

Police say the grenade will be taken care of by disposal experts.
