A 28-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges in connection with a deadly crash in Markham that killed a mother and her young daughter.

Back in August, a 42-year old woman was driving with her four-year-old daughter when their Toyota Corolla slammed head-on with a black Infinity G35 near 16th Avenue east of Bur Oak Avenue.

The woman and daughter, both from Markham, were rushed to hospital but later succumbed to their injuries.

The driver of the Infinity and his one-year-old daughter, who was a passenger in the car at the time, were both taken to hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Police who investigated the crash now say they believe alcohol was a contributing factor in the collision.

Christopher Singh, of Markham, was arrested and charged with two counts of impaired driving causing death, two counts of impaired driving over 80 causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing death.
