TORONTO - A man from Ajax, Ont., faces charges after police allege he issued hundreds of fraudulent forms that were used to apply for employment insurance benefits.

RCMP say about 300 people in the Greater Toronto Area received benefits to which they were not entitled.

The case was uncovered by Service Canada during regular program reviews.

It was referred to the RCMP in September 2010.

Ramanan Rajagopal, 34, is charged with fraud over $5,000 and use, trafficking or possession of forged documents.

He has a court appearance scheduled for Dec. 14.
