GO Transit says train service has resumed on the Kitchener GO Line this morning after a person was struck and killed on the tracks east of the Weston GO Station.

The person was struck by a train travelling from Georgetown GO Station to Union Station.

Service was impacted for approximately two hours. One line on the Kitchener GO reopened just before 9:30 a.m.

The circumstances surrounding the incident on the tracks were not immediately clear.

Train service on the UP Express was also impacted due to the incident but service has since resumed.

Riders were able to use GO fares and PRESTO on the TTC at staffed entrances at both Bloor and Union stations during the suspension.
