A one-year-old girl who was ejected from a vehicle Tuesday morning is recovering in hospital.

The baby was thrown from her car seat after the vehicle she was in slammed into another vehicle in Clearview Township, located northwest of Barrie.

Police say the car was being driven by a 21-year-old Wasaga Beach resident.

The crash happened at about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday on Highway 26 at County Road 7.

The young woman’s beige car turned off County Road 7 and onto Highway 26 when it was struck by a vehicle heading west. The 74-year-old female driver of the second vehicle, the younger woman and the baby suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The adults were transported to Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. The child was airlifted to SickKids hospital in Toronto.

The 21-year-old driver has been charged with failing to yield to traffic.
