The eastbound lanes of the Gardiner Expressway were closed east of Parkside Drive after a pedestrian died Wednesday evening.
The incident occurred shortly before 8 p.m.
A spokesperson for the Toronto Police traffic services division said investigators were determining whether or not to reconstruct the collision, something that would potentially close the road for hours.
The closure caused major traffic backups along the busy east-west artery.
