A rehab facility in the Muskoka region has confirmed that Toronto Mayor Rob is seeking treatment at their facility.

In a statement released Friday afternoon, GreeneStone Residential Addiction Treatment Facility in Bala, Ont., confirmed that mayor Ford was “undergoing treatment” at their clinic.

GreeneStone noted that they were releasing this information with Ford’s consent and asked that the media respect his privacy.

“We ask that the public and the media respect the privacy of all the patients at GreeneStone, to ensure they receive the most comprehensive and effective treatment,” the statement said.

“We take our patient care and confidentiality very seriously and as a result will not be commenting further on this matter.”

According to Greenestone’s website, the centre provides various in-patient addiction programs that can last anywhere from 45 to 90 days.

“We provide healthy meals, detoxification from all addictive substances, encourage exercise, and encourage the exploration of new coping skills to assist in their recovery efforts,” it said.

“GreeneStone is a place where you can heal, rest and recover while under the care of a multidisciplinary team of skilled and experienced professionals.”

News regarding Ford’s whereabouts come days after a woman driving the mayor’s Escalade was pulled over and charged with impaired driving, several kilometres away from the Greenstone centre.

Ford’s lawyer Dennis Morris told CP24 on Thursday that the mayor would not be returning to his duties at city hall any time soon.

“I guarantee it will be a period of time longer as these things don’t go away in a few days,” he said. “Let’s hope he stays there for as long as he needs and see if it works.”

Mayor Ford took a leave of absence in late April to seek treatment after new allegations of substance abuse surfaced in the media.

Little was known about Ford’s whereabouts until he was spotted by local residents in both Bracebridge and Gravenhurst late last week.
