Crews battled a residential fire in a Brampton neighbourhood that had spread to two homes Monday evening.

The blaze started at approximately 5 p.m. at a house on Coachwhip Road, near Bramalea Road and Bovaird Drive.

Fire officials said the blaze spread to a neighbouring home. No injuries have been reported.

Brampton Fire and Emergency Services Deputy Chief Brian Maltby said the fire may have started after an explosion at the first home.

"It is a little too early to tell exactly what happened but it looks like the garage door has been blown out and that is usually an indicate of some sort of explosion," Maltby said.

Eight trucks were sent to help extinguish the blaze.
