The family of a man who was fatally gunned down outside a west-end birthday party is pleading for the suspect to turn themselves in, saying the 33-year-old father "didn’t deserve to die."

Marlon Lennox Mason was shot Wednesday night as he was getting into his vehicle that was parked outside a home on Campbell Avenue, near the area of Bloor Street and Lansdowne Avenue.

Police say shots rang out at approximately 10:30 p.m., littering the sidewalk with shell casings. A friend transported Mason to a local hospital, where he later died of his injuries. Police have not released a suspect description and continue to investigate the shooting, which they say was likely targeted.

On Friday, Mason's sister spent most of her day at a police station talking to investigators. She says her brother, who spun reggae on the University of Toronto radio station, was a passionate and well-loved man.

"Nobody should want to hurt him," Rhonda Adonis told CTV Toronto. She said her family is reeling from Mason's sudden death, and they are hoping the suspect "gives up themselves because he didn’t deserve to die."

Investigators have previously said Mason, a father of five, did not have a criminal record or any gang affiliations. They say it's unclear why Mason was shot. He leaves behind four daughters and a two-year-old boy.

"(Mason's death) will continue to haunt you because we will always remember him as a good person," Adonis said. "We will always pray that (this person) will get caught."
