Environment Canada has lifted a special weather statement warning residents about ‘high levels of air pollution’ in Toronto’s east end.

In the statement issued Saturday afternoon, the agency said it had detected unusually high concentrations of ozone at ground level.

Those exposed may experience coughing, throat irritation, headaches, and shortness of breath. Children, the elderly and those suffering from asthma or cardiovascular disease could experience more severe side effects.

Detailed information is available on the agency’s website.
