Durham Police are investigating after a wheelchair-bound woman and her elderly husband were robbed while trying to sell kittens from their home.

Police say a male and female suspect visited the victims' home in north Whitby late Monday afternoon.

The two suspects were responding to an ad posted by the elderly couple regarding the sale of kittens.

Police say the suspects asked to use the washroom and stole numerous personal belongings, including jewelry, cash and a purse while the owners weren't watching.

Police are searching for a white female in her mid-30s with dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white tank top, dark dress pants and beige high heel shoes, and she had a tattoo on her left forearm.

The second suspect is described as a white male with a black, scruffy beard and numerous tattoos.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Central West Property Crimes Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1854.
