Police have located a driver believed to be involved in a fatal hit-and-run after a woman's body was found in a Forest Hill intersection.

Toronto paramedics said a woman's body was found at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West at approximately 5:35 a.m. on Friday.

Police said the woman had been hit by a tanker truck as it made a right turn through the intersection. Const. Clint Stibbe said the driver may not have seen her due to the incline of the road.

The driver continued south without stopping, but another driver who witnessed the collision followed the truck. The witness caught up with the truck and got the driver's attention, then drove the truck driver back to the scene.

Stibbe said the intersection of Bathurst and Eglinton is expected to be closed for several hours as officers reconstruct the collision and investigate.
