Doug Ford's election campaign may not have had its official launch, but the mayoral candidate has unveiled his website and social media pages.

Doug has been quiet about his campaign since registering to run last week, pausing briefly to talk to media only about his brother's condition.

Doug applied to run for mayor when his younger brother Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with an abdominal tumour. The councillor essentially switched places with Rob, joining the mayoral race as Rob withdrew in favour of running for city council.

Doug's website was updated on Thursday morning to reflect that he is running for mayor, rather than council.

The sparsely populated website borrows Rob's election slogan, "Putting Taxpayers First," and urges supporters to check back soon for updates. It also lists the phone number for Rob's headquarters on Lawrence Avenue in Scarborough, where Rob's name was removed from the sign earlier this week. Currently, the sign has a blank white space where Rob's name used to be, followed by "Ford" in big, blue letters.

At the same time as the site launch, a Twitter account and Facebook page appeared, featuring the "Ford for Mayor" banner also used when Rob was running. No tweets have been sent yet, and the Facebook page is bare, other than a photo of Doug greeting supporters.

As part of the social media campaign, Doug has also created YouTube, Instagram and Google + accounts, though nothing has been added to the pages so far.
