The death of a four-year-old Toronto boy in Bowmanville earlier this week has now been classified as a homicide.

Police were called to a residence on Ireland Street for a report of a child without vital signs shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

The boy was being cared for at the home of a family friend at the time, police said.

He was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

In a release issued Saturday evening, police said that a post-mortem examination has concluded that Terell Vidal died as a result of blunt force trauma.
