A male cyclist has been rushed to hospital with life-threatening head injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough.

Toronto police say the man in his 60s was travelling eastbound on Finch Avenue East near Neilson Road when he was struck from behind and thrown from his bicycle shortly after 7 p.m. on Monday.

Police believe the cyclist was not wearing a helmet.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with police.
