An Oshawa woman’s pricey engagement ring was allegedly stolen by customers at a restaurant , police say.

The woman told police that she was having dinner at Whiskey Johns on King Street West on Tuesday night, when she decided to take off her engagement ring as she finished her meal. She said that she placed the ring – valued at over $3000 – beside her plate.

After she left the restaurant, the woman said she realized she had forgotten the ring on the table and immediately went back to retrieve it. When she returned, a female and male customer had been seated at the table the victim was previously eating at and offered to help her search for the ring, but it was never found.

Investigators said they obtained surveillance video from the restaurant that shows the female customer finding the ring on the table, showing it to the male and promptly hiding it. She can then be seen helping the victim search for the ‘missing’ ring around the table.

Police describe the suspect as a white female who is between 25 and 35 years old. She was last seen wearing a dark, zippered hoodie, a white T-shirt and black capri pants.

In an effort to identify the suspect, police have released images from the surveillance camera footage obtained at the restaurant.
