A fire started on the roof of Brampton’s Bramalea Secondary School on Sunday morning, causing minor water and smoke damage to approximately six classrooms.

No injuries were reported, and the school will be open for classes tomorrow.

Emergency crews in Brampton responded to a call that came in just after 11 a.m., Peel Police Const. Lily Fitzpatrick told CTV News. Fire crews extinguished the flame shortly within 15 minutes.

Damage is estimated at $45,000, according to fire officials.

A church on the west side of the school was evacuated as a result and Balmoral Dr. was temporarily closed.

Peel District School Board confirmed roofers were doing work in the building.
