CFB BORDEN-- Canada's biggest military training base will swear in its first female commander on Friday.
Col. Tammy Harris is taking over the top job at CFB Borden in Ontario.
It is believed to mark the first time a woman in Canada will hold the position of base commander.
Harris, who hails from Annapolis Valley, N.S., says she has never felt any barriers were in place against her because she is a woman.
Her 25 years with the military have taken her to Europe, Afghanistan and all over Canada.
Harris's two-year stint at CFB Borden will see her further bilingualism within the forces, work on infrastructure for the future, and "modernize" the current training programs.
