Police in Durham region have released a composite sketch of a suspect accused of attempting to lure a child into a vehicle in Whitby’s Brooklin neighbourhood.

A nine-year-old boy told police he was walking in the area of Carnwith Drive and Cachet Boulevard on Jan. 24 at around 3 p.m. when a vehicle with a man inside approached him.

The boy told police that the male driver offered him a ride home. When the boy refused, the driver allegedly offered him money to get inside the vehicle.

The boy said he then ran home to tell his father.

The father told police that once the boy got home, he stepped outside his house and saw the vehicle his son was talking about.

Police describe the suspect vehicle as a grey or silver four-door car with a licence plate that may contain the letters BTTV.

The suspect is described as a white man who is approximately 65 years old with grey hair and a full white beard.
