Peel police say they have resolved an investigation involving clown threats made against students at a Mississauga public school without incident.

According to investigators, threats were made using social media towards students at Lisgar Middle School, located at 6755 Lisgar Dr., earlier this week.

“Although the threats did not target a specific student, the culprit used the ‘killer clown’ theme as seen on various social media outlets,” police said in a release Thursday afternoon.

As a result of their investigation, an 11-year-old boy was identified as being responsible for the threats. The child also attends the school, police said.

“Parents are reminded to be proactive and speak with your children regarding the effects of pranks and to continue to contact police if a threat to a student’s safety is made,” police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 905-453-2121 ext. 1133 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
