A 36-year-old man is facing impaired driving-related charges in connection with a fatal crash in Caledon on Saturday.

It happened at around 2 p.m. on Highway 10 between Beechgrove Sideroad and Highpoint Sideroad.

Police said a 36-year-old driver of a grey Dodge was heading southbound when he crossed into the northbound lanes and caused a head-on crash with a red Kia.

The driver of the Kia, a 56-year-old Orangeville man, was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Dodge was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police said Sunday that the driver of the Dodge, identified as David Courneya, of Orangeville, has now been charged with impaired operation of a motor-vehicle causing death and dangerous operation of a motor-vehicle causing death.

Courneya is scheduled to appear in court in Brampton on Sunday.
