OTTAWA -- Federal health officials have extended a recall of a macaroni salad because it may be contaminated with Listeria.

Reser's Fine Foods brand Cheesy Macaroni salad is sold in Walmart stores in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, P.E.I., Ontario and Quebec.

The initial recall on Oct. 5 involved both 454-gram and 1.25 kilogram packages with a best-before date of Oct. 20.

The updated recall includes 1.25 kg. packages with a best-before date of Nov. 2.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says the manufacturer, Reser's Fine Foods Inc. of Beaverton, Oregon, is voluntarily recalling the affected product.

There have been no reported illnesses associated with eating this product.
