A woman has been taken to hospital after her car crashed into a pet store in Stouffville on Sunday morning.

York Regional Police were called to Global Pet Foods on Stouffville Road after receiving reports that a driver has slammed their car into the front store window.

A female driver was pulled from the wreckage and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the accident remains unclear.

Shards of broken glass could be seen littered around the hood of the car and the sidewalk in front of the store.

There were no animals inside the store at the time of the crash.

The vehicle remains at the scene of the crash as police investigate the incident.
