The brother of a 29-year-old man who was killed in a weekend street-racing incident has been released on bail, a day after he was charged in connection with the event.

Mohammad Haniff was travelling at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his 2004 Honda Accord in Mississauga on Saturday evening. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A witness told police a second vehicle sped away from the scene without stopping to help.

On Wednesday, the victim’s brother, Hazrat Haniff, and a co-worker, Igor Stambulsky, were charged with criminal negligence causing death by street racing and failure to remain causing death by street racing.

Hazrat appeared in Brampton court Thursday morning and was released on $20,000 bail under the conditions that he can't sit in the front seat of a vehicle either as a driver or a passenger and that he live with his mother.

Stambulsky was released on bail yesterday on the same conditions.
