Toronto police say a man who was killed in a collision Wednesday morning was struck by a taxicab after they believe he attempted to break into his ex-girlfriend's home.
Police were responding to a 911 call for the attempted break-in when the 52-year-old man was hit by the taxi at Danforth and Birchmount roads shortly after 1:30 a.m., said traffic services Const. Clint Stibbe.
Paramedics rushed the man to a trauma centre, where he died of his injuries.
Police believe the man was intoxicated and they are still investigating the circumstances of the collision.
