A Brampton, Ont. man has been reunited with his dog after it was allegedly stolen, along with his pickup truck, on Friday afternoon.

Peel Police returned Smidgie, a seven-year-old Corgi, to owner Wayne Cardinal on Saturday after the dog was found in Orangeville, a town north of Brampton.

According to police, a man found the dog Friday night in Orangeville and took it home, believing it had become separated from its owner.

When a friend of the man recognized the dog from media reports, Peel Police were notified, leading to the reunion.

Cardinal's missing black Ford F-150 has not yet been recovered.

The truck was reported stolen from a parking lot near Highway 410 and Queen Street East at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Cardinal says his microchipped dog was left in the vehicle -- with the engine off and the keys out of the ignition -- at the time of the incident. He had briefly left the vehicle to pick up fish and chips.
