A 14-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital in critical condition after being trapped under a pickup truck in Bradford, Ont., Friday afternoon.

Police say the teen was struck while he was riding a bike through the intersection of Bingham and Centre Streets shortly after 1:30 p.m. The boy, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, was dragged by a truck and then pinned under the vehicle.

Ornge said the boy was airlifted to Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children in critical condition after being rescued from underneath the truck.

Police say the driver of the vehicle, a 60-year-old Newmarket man, remained at the scene. He was not injured in the crash.

The intersection of Centre and Bingham Streets was temporarily closed as police investigated the collision.
