A Toronto boy is using his passion for LEGO to brighten up the holidays for people at the Scarborough Hospital.

For the past 10 years, Christian Sforza has been building holiday-inspired winter village scenes using LEGO sets.

The displays feature Santa Claus, reindeer and even Christmas lights on the rooves of homes.

Sforza started building small LEGO sets, but when the projects got too big, he decided it was time to put them somewhere for others to enjoy.

“I called my friend over and said ‘I need some help building this,’ and we finished it… the whole day,” Sforza said.

Sforza’s LEGO village now sits in the cashier’s office at the Scarborough Hospital for patients, staff, and visitors to enjoy.

“It’s a space that we aren’t using right now, I think there’s almost 25,000 pieces in there and there’s a real value to that LEGO, so we needed a place that could lock, but it still needed windows,” said CEO of the Scarborough Hospital Foundation Michael Mazza.

Those who visit Sforza’s LEGO village can also make a donation. All proceeds are going to the hospital program for maternal and newborn health.

Sforza has been to the hospital several times, both for himself and to visit relatives.

Sforza will take the set back at the end of the holidays, but he says he’s already working on an even bigger display for next year.
