The three bodies found last week in a burned vehicle north of Barrie are those of a missing Mississauga man and his two sons, Ontario Provincial Police have confirmed.

Samuel Masih, 36, and two boys, aged 10 and 4, were reported missing by Masih's wife early Friday morning. She told police her husband and kids left their Mississauga home to go to an afternoon movie on Thursday and never returned.

A few hours later, firefighters responded to a call from a passing driver north of Barrie who reported seeing a car on fire.

At about 5:40 a.m., firefighters found three bodies in a charred car, burned beyond recognition, on Holick Road just north of 4th Line in Oro-Medonte Township.

OPP told CTV Toronto that when they were found, the three bodies were so badly burned that they could not determine gender or age. The bodies were sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto for post-mortems.

The post-mortem examinations determined that one of the deceased was Masih. The identities of the other two bodies were not released, but police confirmed their ages: 10 and 4.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths, asking anyone who observed any unusual activity in the area to contact Barrie OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
