A fire station was evacuated after an artillery shell was discovered in the Leaside neighbourhood on Saturday.
Officers received a report of a suspicious package in the McRae and Laird drives area around 1:30 p.m.
The Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear Explosives (CBRNE ) unit were called to the station as a precaution, according to police.
Toronto Fire Services later said a local resident had dug up the Second World War shell in his backyard and dropped it off at Fire Station 321, located near the intersection.
No injuries were reported.
