Police have arrested a 44-year-old man in connection with the attempted robbery of a Toronto steakhouse owner, who fought off the suspect "hockey-fight style."

The incident happened on Monday in the area of Yonge and Elm Streets, near the Toronto Eaton Centre.

Arron Barberian, who owns Barberian's Steak house and the Three Little Pigs sandwich shop, was carrying a till full of cash from his Elm Street steakhouse to the sandwich shop when he was approached by a male suspect.

Barberian told CTV Toronto on Monday that the man did not appear to have a weapon so decided to take matters into his own hands.

"I grabbed him basically by the back of his jersey and kind of hockey-fight style dragged him around and rag-dolled him, and threw him down a couple of times," he said.

Barberian was not injured in the scuffle. It was caught on security surveillance camera from two different angles in two videos that were later uploaded to YouTube with the titles "Smack Down" and "Smack Down 2."

Barberian said he attempted to hold onto the suspect until police arrived, but he fled the scene.

As Barberian and one of his staff chased the suspect, banknotes could be seen spilling onto the ground. The steakhouse owner also dropped his cellphone.

An unknown woman wearing a black jacket and pants can be seen in one of the videos stopping to pick up Barberian's phone. He did not get it back.

Police said Joel Brown, of Toronto, was arrested on Queen Street West at approximately 1 a.m. He has been charged with robbery and two counts of failing to comply with probation. Brown is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police said in a statement on Wednesday they are looking for the woman who picked up Barberian's cellphone.

She is described as non-white and has long, black hair that was last seen in a ponytail. Police said at the time of the incident, she was seen wearing a dark, ¾-length winter coat with a fur trim, black winter boots with tassels and red soles and was carrying a black purse.

She was seen getting out of a blue Honda CRV that was parked on the south side of Elm Street at the time of the incident.
