Less than a week after former Toronto Community Housing Corporation CEO Eugene Jones was ousted from his position, another senior member of the agency has left, "effective immediately."

In a statement on Wednesday, the public housing agency said Anand Maharaj, the former human resources vice president, is no longer with the TCHC as part of a "mutual agreement."

"The Board of Directors and Management of Toronto Community Housing agree that a leadership change in the Human Resources Division serve the best interest of the corporation at this time," a statement from Bud Purves, the TCHC's chair of the board of directors, said.

Maharaj, who joined the TCHC in November 2011, will receive a settlement of $160,000.

An interim leadership structure for the TCHC's human resources department will be announced "shortly," the agency said. It did not specify why Maharaj was asked to leave, but thanked him for his "contributions" to the TCHC.

Last week, Jones vacated his position after a closed-door TCHC board meeting that followed a scathing report from city Ombudsment Fiona Crean. The report found that management had ignored rules about hiring and firing staff in the last year.
