Court records show the 20-year-old man charged in connection to the beating death of a North York woman lived in the same building.

Linda Thomas, 60, was found dead on Mar. 8 in her condo on Hollywood Avenue, near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue. Police said she had obvious signs of trauma.

A post-mortem report confirmed the cause of death was blunt-force trauma.

Documents show Anthony Yim, who has been charged with second-degree murder in the case, held the same Hollywood Avenue address as Thomas.

A CTV reporter confirmed that he did live in the building, eight floors below the murder victim.

Yim was arrested Tuesday in connection with Thomas's death. He was in court at the time of his arrest on an unrelated assault charge.

The murder charge comes after detectives called on the public for information in early March, saying a lack of biographical information about Thomas made the case challenging. They added that they suspected Thomas wasn't randomly targeted by her assailant.

Investigators said Thomas was known to act "verbally aggressively" with fellow tenants. Residents of the building told CTV Toronto that Thomas was often spotted looking for cigarettes in the condo lobby.

In the days leading up to her death, tenants told police they saw Thomas hanging around the building with several unfamiliar men.

Police noted that they have had "no issues" with Thomas and her apartment before.

Yim is already known to police for theft charges he's facing in the city of Sault Ste. Marie, about 700 kilometres away from his home address.

Police allege that on March 5 Yim failed to appear in court for the charge of theft under $5,000, prompting officers to issue a warrant for his arrest.

Three days later, police found Thomas' lifeless body in her condo. An investigation into her death continues and police are still appealing for tips.

Anyone with information is urged to call investigators at 416-808-7400. Anonymous tips came be left with Crime Stoppers at 416-222- 8477 or online at www.222tips.com.

Yim's next court appearance is on Thursday, April 5.
