LONDON, Ont. -- The union representing hundreds of London, Ont. municipal workers threatening to strike says it's open to continuing negotiations with the city today if concession demands are taken off the table.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says 750 workers are poised to go on strike Monday morning after talks collapsed over the weekend.
The union accuses the city of refusing to back down from demands for concessions including work hours, contracting out and retiree benefits.
CUPE says it has not heard back from city negotiators.
CUPE says the municipal employees affected work in areas that include administration, building inspections, bylaw enforcement, tourism and road construction.
The city issued a statement on Saturday promising to post details on its website on what services will be affected if there is a strike and indicated it remains willing to negotiate.
