Provincial police are investigating after nearly 70 pigs were stolen from a farm west of Toronto.

Officers said the pigs were stolen from a farm in Huron County sometime between noon on Sunday and 9 a.m. on Monday. The suspects are believed to have entered the barn through an insecure back door, officers said in a statement Thursday.

Thieves loaded 69 pigs, weighing between 25 and 30 pounds, into some kind of vehicle, then drove away, officers said. The value of the pigs is estimated at approximately $3,000.

The case of stolen pigs is the second in southern Ontario in less than two weeks. Approximately 500 pigs were stolen from a Houghton, Ont. farm on Friday, June 19, OPP said.

Anyone with information regarding the most recent theft is asked to call OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
