Police-involved shooting in Newmarket

The Special Investigations Unit has been called after a police-involved shooting in Newmarket early Tuesday morning.

Police responded to a call shortly after midnight at an apartment building on Davis Drive near Lorne Avenue.

Upon arrival, police said, they were confronted by a man with a gun. The man is in hospital with serious injuries after police discharged their firearms.

Fatal GO Train incident

Police continue to investigate a fatal incident involving a male victim who was struck by a GO Train Monday evening. It happened near Dundas Street West and Sterling Road. Toronto EMS says the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
