Lethal force report

Former Supreme Court of Canada justice Frank Iacobucci will release his report on the use of lethal force by police officers on Thursday.

The report was sparked by the TTC shooting death of Sammy Yatim last summer. The report comes amid a lawsuit by the 18-year-old's family which alleges that excessive force was used in the incident. Yatim was wielding a knife inside an empty streetcar on July 27. He was shot as police stood near the streetcar's open door. Thursday's report will have 84 recommendations on a wide range of items, including police training and reducing the use of lethal force by officers.

"Danny died tragically at the young age of 41. He will be remembered by his colleagues at the Florida State University and by his friends and relatives around the world. He will always be loved and forever missed by his family, in particular his two beloved sons, Benjamin and Lincoln," a statement on the funeral home's website said.
