Toronto Police say two brothers are wanted for first-degree murder in the shooting death of a teen at an Etobicoke apartment complex last week.

Corey Murray, 29, and his brother Curtis, 25, both of Brampton, are wanted in connection with the death of Trevor Seraphine.

The 17-year-old was gunned down at a building on Willowridge Road in the early-morning hours of March 21. Seraphine was heading to a friend’s house at the time.

Investigators announced at a news conference Monday that warrants had been issued for the brothers. Police said they believe the pair is dangerous, and could be trying to flee Canada to Jamaica.

Police would not elaborate on the motive for the shooting, saying the case is now before the courts.

Homicide Det. Tam Bui said Seraphine had “no connection” to the brothers, whom he called “hardened criminals” with lengthy criminal records.

Bui urged the community not to assist them in fleeing “prosecution.”

“Anyone who we do learn assists, harbours or conceals these two fugitives, will be charged with an accessory after the fact to murder – a criminal offence,” Bui said.

Seraphine, who moved to Toronto from Saint Lucia, had no gang affiliations and no criminal record, Bui told reporters.

Investigators also said that property sold at a block sale -- held March 20 in the lobby of the complex where Seraphine was gunned down -- is evidence in the teen’s murder. They are asking that anyone who purchased items at the block sale to return it to police.

“I’m appealing to the community members who unknowingly purchased any of these items to please return them to 23 Division,” Bui said. “You are not in any trouble, you will not face any criminal charges, you will only be assisting Trevor’s family.”

Seraphine’s sister made an emotional plea to the community to help in her brother’s case. She said Seraphine was a “shy boy” who had a lot of friends and liked helping people out.

Police also said a GoFundMe fundraising campaign has been set up to help bring Seraphine’s parents to Toronto for his funeral.
